Fourteenth edition. *The Reverend Edward Bannerman Ramsay (1793-1872) became the Scottish Episcopal Dean of Edinburgh in 1841, and thereafter was usually referred to as 'Dean' Ramsay. His popular Reminiscences of Scottish Life and Character, first published in 1857, went through 22 editions in the author's lifetime. Henry Wright Kerr (1857-1936) was a prolific Scottish artist known for his Scottish scenes and portraits of characterful gentlemen
